Guess Who Got to Meet the Prez!?

Hey, being President is hard work.

Oh, come on guys -- You got 827 gazillion reasons to hate George Bush without having to turn the knob on the Offense-O-Meter down to a .000001 sensitivity tolerence to just bitch about this perfectly harmless gathering of apparently happy people. Seriously, are we now expected to froth at the mouth whenever we see the President posing with someone besides a grieving mother?

Maybe I've answered my own question without knowing it.

Actually, you didn't. Bush has NEVER been to a military funeral. "In my judgment, I think if I go to one I should go to all. How do you honor one person but not another?"

Sorry, timmy, I'm all for the most powerful man in the world to hang with hte idols when life is a little more stable.

Funny. If the tables were turned and Clinton made this mess and decided to hang with the idols, Fox,Rush, Savage, etc...would rip him to shreds.

Hey, maybe I'm wrong, but I really don't remember any outrage directed at Clinton for hosting the various sports champs and whatnot at the White House. Good grief, Presidents have been doing these things forever.

But, assuming you're right...have at it. After all, it's not like you need to pretend you want to elevate the tone of the debate above the level Rush and Michael Savage have extablished.

The F*cking Middle East is burning. People are dying. It's insulting to the dead and their families.

Nonsense. There's a time to grieve and there's a time to enjoy whatever tender mercies are afforded us in this lifetime. It takes a certain kind of person to begrudge someone for having fun with what seem to be perfectly nice people.

Benjamin Disraeli put it well: "Grief is the agony of an instant, the indulgence of grief the blunder of a life."

Yes, we all need balance, but we're talking about the fucking president.

Yes, I suppose there really are few people out there who think a 28 hour day is all we need to solve the world's problems, you know, to make up for all of those time consuming "American Idols" that stalk us throughout our own lives. In fact, I think there's legislation working it's way through congress right now to fund research into "time expansion" for this very reason. (Kucinich sponsering it, of course.)

And by the way, don't YOU have something better to do right now than leave comments on this blog (much less read mine)? I mean, yeah, you know I don't have anything better to do, but shouldn't you be down at the soup kitchen feeding the homeless or something? Or what about driving around the country asking random people who they voted for in an election held over a year ago? Come on, wouldn't that time have been better spent reading stories to elderly people in rest homes? Picking up litter along the freeway? Or soliciting money from your neighbors to sponsor you for an hour of jumping rope in a charity Jump-Rope-a-Thon to help pay for Truthseeker's special ed. classes?

Like I said, you guys have a nice big menu of gripes about Bush to choose from. Why trivialize your criticisms with bullshit like this?
